Candle 101

Our clean-burning candles are made from natural, non-toxic ingredients and are designed to produce less soot, smoke, and harmful chemicals when burned. We use materials like soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, and our fragrances are classified Phthalate Free and Non-toxic.

Benefits of Clean-Burning Candles:

  1. Non-toxic: Clean-burning candles avoid the release of harmful chemicals like benzene, toluene, and formaldehyde, which are often found in candles made from paraffin wax (a petroleum byproduct).

  2. Less Soot: Natural waxes tend to produce less soot, reducing indoor air pollution and keeping your walls and furniture cleaner.

  3. Longer Burn Time: Clean-burning candles often burn slower and last longer due to the denser composition of natural waxes.

  4. Better Fragrance Throw: Many natural waxes, especially soy, hold fragrance oils better, offering a more even and lasting scent.

  5. Eco-friendly: Soy is a renewable resource and biodegradable, making Soy candles more environmentally friendly.

How to Care for a Candle:

Proper care can enhance the life and performance of your clean-burning candles. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Trim the Wick: Before each use, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps prevent the wick from burning too large, which can cause excessive soot and an uneven burn.

  2. Burn for Longer Periods: When lighting a candle, let it burn long enough (usually 1-2 hours) for the wax to melt evenly across the surface. This prevents tunneling (where the candle burns down the center, leaving wax around the edges) and ensures an even burn. Do not exceed a 4 hour burn time.

  3. Extinguish the Candle Properly: Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Avoid blowing it out too forcefully, as this can cause wax to spill and potentially create a fire hazard.

  4. Store Candles in a Cool, Dry Place: Keep candles away from direct sunlight and heat sources to avoid melting or discoloration. Store them in a cool, dry place to maintain their shape and fragrance.

  5. Keep Candles Away from Drafts: Candles should be placed in areas with minimal airflow, as drafts can cause uneven burning and increase the likelihood of the candle flickering.

  6. Clean the Candle Container: If the candle has finished burning, you can clean the container by removing the leftover wax and washing it with warm, soapy water. Reuse the container for other purposes or refill it using one of our refill kits.

  7. Avoid Overburning: Don't let a candle burn for more than four hours at a time, or all the way to the bottom. Extinguishing it when there’s still a small amount of wax left can prevent damage to the container and wick.

By choosing clean-burning candles and following proper care practices, you can enjoy a safer, healthier, and longer-lasting candle experience while maintaining a pleasant atmosphere in your home.
